- The Ministry of Children and Family Development is committed to having healthy children and families living in safe, caring and inclusive communities.
Northern Health Authority - Northern Health is responsible for the delivery of health care across Northern British
Columbia, including acute care, mental health, public health, addictions, and home and community care. The Authority was introduced on December 12, 2001, as part of the provincial government's health
care restructuring. It combines 16 former health organizations into one unified body.
Canada Prenatal Nutrition Programme - CPNP enhances access to services and
strengthens inter-sectoral collaboration to support the needs of pregnant women facing conditions of risk. As a comprehensive program, the services provided include food supplementation, nutrition
counselling, support, education, referral and counselling on health and lifestyle issues.
Ministry of State for Early Childhood Development - British Columbia is one of the only
provinces in Canada that has given Early Childhood Development ministerial status. This site lists programmes and initiatives funded under this ministry.
Ministry of Education: Special Education - The goal of the BC school system is to support the intellectual
development of all students, including those with special needs. Enabling all students to achieve the goals of human, social and career development is a responsibility shared by schools, families and
the community.
HealthLink
BC - HealthLink
BC is an exciting new service offered by the Government of British Columbia that
allows residents an opportunity to contact a range of registered health
professionals by simply dialing 8-1-1 or visiting www.healthlinkbc.ca.
This new service combines a number of trusted health resources, including: BC
NurseLine, BC HealthGuide, Dial-A-Dietitian, and Pharmacist-After-Hours, into
one comprehensive resource that is easily accessible by all British Columbians.

Centre for Childhood Disability Research - Seeks to maximize the life quality of children and youth with disabilities and
their families.
Human Early Learning Programme - HELP is a network of faculty, researchers and graduate students from British Columbia's four
major universities. HELP facilitates the creation of new knowledge, and helps apply this knowledge in the community by working directly with government and communities.
Centre of Excellence for Children and Youth with Special Needs - Ensure that advanced knowledge about children and adolescents
with special needs living in rural, remote and northern locations is disseminated effectively to those who need it most.
Invest in Kids - A national, charitable organization dedicated to ensuring the healthy social, emotional and intellectual

BC Council for Families The Council - Founded in the spirit of collaboration and, for the past 25 years, we have continued to

The BC Association for Child Development and Intervention - A provincial association of agencies which provide child development
and therapy services to children with special needs and their families in British Columbia.
First Call - A cross-sectoral, non-partisan coalition in BC. Our coalition is made up of over 60 provincial organizations and 25
mobilizing communities. In addition, we have a network of thousands of community groups and individuals.
Family Support Institute of BC - The Family Support Institute is a province-wide organization whose purpose is to strengthen
and support families faced with the extraordinary circumstances that come with having a family member who has a disability.
Cariboo
Hoofbeats Assisted Activity Program Society - CHAAPS is a non-profit
society located in Quesnel, British Columbia. The program offers educational
and therapeutic programs with horses and dogs (Animal Assisted Therapy) to
help people with physical, mental, emotional and social challenges. Our
program is committed to improving the quality of life for people with these
challenges, children, youth, adults and seniors.
Measuring Up
the North - The goal of the project is to assist 41 communities and
regional districts to develop livable, senior-friendly, disability-friendly,
universally designed communities. With strong support through Northern BC, the
project assists communities through locally controlled initiatives that will
potentially increase participation of seniors and people with disabilities,
employment rates, tourism opportunities, economic development, sustainability,
retirement living and cooperative ventures.

Canadian Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists - CASLPA is the single national body that
supports the needs, interests and development of speech-language pathologists and audiologists across Canada.
The British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists - BCSOT is the provincial professional association representing occupational
therapists in British Columbia.
The Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia - Provides leadership and direction to the physiotherapy profession, fosters
excellence in practice, education and research and promotes high standards of health in British Columbia.
The Infant Development Program - Serves children from birth to three years old, who are at risk for, or who already have a delay in
development. Programs are available throughout British Columbia. Each program brings parents and professionals together to help children overcome developmental difficulties.
Aboriginal Infant Development Program Consultants - Works together with families to support the growth and development of aboriginal
children during their most important years of development birth - 3.
Supported Child Development Programme - SCDP is a community-based program that assists families of children with extra support needs to
access inclusive child care that meets family needs. The program is intended to serve children from birth to 12, with services for youth 13 - 19 years available in some communities.
The Quesnel Community Autism Committee - Purpose is to enhance services for children in the autism spectrum by coordinating and
sharing resources and working together in the most efficient manner.
BC Epilepsy Society
- The BC Epilepsy Society is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated
to serving British Columbians living with epilepsy, and their families. We
also work with educators and other organizations to build awareness about
epilepsy related issues, and to increase people's knowledge about the more
than 40 different disorders and appropriate first aid.
